창작스튜디오 국외 입주작가 결과보고전 <의도되었던, 우연이었던>은

지난 8월에 입주한 2인의 국외 입주작가 알란 에글린튼과 괵첸 딜레키 아자이가

3개월간 팔복예술공장에서 활동한 과정을 엮어 낸 전시이다.

2019년에 선정된 2인의 작가는 코로나19로 입주가 연기되어

2023년 8월, 주로 활동하던 지역에서 벗어나

‘한국, 전주, 팔복동, 팔복예술공장’의 새로운 환경을 마주한다.

누군가에게 보통이자 일상의 모습이

또 다른 누군가에게 관심과 호기심의 대상으로 변화한다.

입주 기간동안 2인의 작가는

관심과 호기심 속에서 관계를 쌓아가며 새로운 인식과 경험을 해석하고,

자신을 느끼고 다듬으며 사유의 시간을 통해

각자의 방식으로 풀어 낸 작품을 선보인다.

작가의 의도와 우연이 만들어 낸 시간으로 쌓은 단서와

겹겹이 쌓인 흔적을 찾아가며 작가와 작품 속

새로운 관계를 마주하길 바란다.

Final Exhibition “Chance + Certainty”

Proudly presented by the Palbok Arts Factory, this exhibition marks the culminating moment of a transformative three-month artist's residency by internationally acclaimed artists, Alan Eglinton and Gökçen Dilek Acay. Initially chosen for this unique opportunity in 2019, their stay expectedly deferred due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. It started in August 2023 within the unfamiliar yet inspiring surroundings of 'Palbok Arts Factory in Jeonju, South Korea.’

This exhibition stands as a complex narrative, intricately woven from threads of introspection, environmental engagement and unbridled creativity. For the local inhabitants, the setting of Palbok Arts Factory may represent the quotidien, but through the perceptive eyes of Eglinton and Acay, these mundane aspects were transformed into objects of fascination and curiosity. The artists delved deep into their surroundings, forging meaningful relationships and garnering fresh perspectives that significantly influenced their creative journey.

During their residency, Eglinton and Acay immersed themselves in this space of curiosity and potential, interpreting and embodying new experiences, while also undergoing a process of self-reflection and artistic refinement. This period of contemplation and interaction with their environment allowed them to develop and present artworks that are not only unique expressions of their personal journeys but also invite the audience to engage in a dialogue, exploring the intricate balance between intention and chance, visibility and obscurity.

The Palbok Arts Factory, through this exceptional exhibition, encourages visitors to traverse the layers of time, clues, and artistic traces left behind by the artists, fostering a space for engagement, reflection and connection.
